As the incumbent digital surveyors for Waitrose and Partners, one of the UK’s leading supermarket chains, we have been conducting comprehensive 3D surveys of their store portfolio to assist with their ongoing refurbishment and upgrade projects. One of the stores we surveyed was located in Willerby, UK.
At Digital Inc, we pride ourselves on our expertise in 3D laser scanning, point cloud modelling, and BIM surveys. Our work with Waitrose has been instrumental in helping them to achieve their vision of a fully realized digital twin of their entire portfolio. The data we have collected through our surveys has allowed Waitrose to visualize and test their designs before any physical work is carried out, reducing costs and ensuring that their vision is fully realized.
To begin the survey process, we conducted a full 3D laser scan of the interior and exterior of the store. This scan allowed us to capture accurate measurements and details, enabling us to create a highly detailed point cloud model of the entire building.
We also developed a full 360 virtual tour of the store to provide Waitrose with a more immersive experience. This virtual tour allowed Waitrose to explore the store and gain a more detailed understanding of the space.
Using the data collected from the scans, we created a BIM-ready survey of the store that was ready for use by Waitrose’s design team. The survey was developed to LOD300, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the model. We worked closely with Waitrose to convert the fixtures, fittings, and equipment into BIM and create a separate model for each level of the store.
The completed survey provided Waitrose with a detailed BIM-Ready Survey of the store that allowed them to visualize and test their designs before any physical work was carried out. This helped to reduce costs and ensure that Waitrose’s vision was fully realized.
